Day 01 Trial

[Afternoon is here, and the time has come. We must gather at the temple to enact our solemn duty. There are tears in the Shimmering Lady's eyes as she addresses the group.]

This is something we must do together. Please discuss among yourselves who you believe to be a Demon. Each villager has one vote, and when the trial is over, I'd like you all to close your eyes and concentrate on your choice. If you are not certain, then you may select "no one." But if someone is chosen...

I shall take it from there.

To my knowledge, only Ling has been accused of being a demon so far. He asserts his innocence, and the accuser claiming to be the Seer has not come forward with their identity.

I have no desire to condemn a man who could be innocent. Even so, I do not think these claims can be dismissed entirely, when they are all we have so far. Does anyone have any new information they would like to provide?

I am wary of trusting a so-called Seer who hides behind the veil of anonymity. Even if our note-writer speaks true, we cannot know if the vision itself does.

I would simply like to bring up that the note also mentioned something about a "False Seer". So how about that?

On the other hand, do we have a reason to believe the note isn't genuine? I can think of several reasons why a Seer wouldn't come forward, false or otherwise; if we assume that it isn't, there's a chance we're allowing a demon to remain among us.

I don't. Except that I would appreciate more information, if we really do have two seers.

There's also the matter of the Seer remaining anonymous. If they really are a Seer, I understand they want to be safe from the demons, but if we blindly kill anyone they command from here on out, that's a dangerous weapon against us. Anyone can claim to be the Seer. All they have to do is match their handwriting.

I wish to believe that note was written in good faith. However, I do not think we should follow its advice. I understand the Seer's desire to fully understand their dreams, but that should be possible to discern without the risk of spilling innocent blood.

I ask that both Seers turn their eyes tonight towards myself or Bulat. As we did not sleep last night, we could not have been possessed, and our innocence is assured. Thus the meaning behind the dreams should be made clear.

Does anyone have a suspect aside from Mr. Yao? If so, please come forward with your statement! As it stands, Mr. Yao isn't more of a suspect than anyone else.

[Kimblee's voice is reasonably soft, as it always is, but his tone is perhaps surprisingly hard; it's nowhere near as apologetic as it should be given his words, let's put it that way.]

It's a valid point that demons may try to claim to be a Seer, something that's occurred to both myself and others by now. And I really would like to keep others from claiming my work as their own. So as interesting as I find this entire game, I can't keep my silence in good conscience; it would be doing everyone here a disservice, and it would likewise be dealing Our Lady more sorrow than She deserves.

I dreamed of Ling Yao last night. He's a demon.

We still shouldn't hurt Ling. If we have to do this to test the Seer, we oughta have both go at once. On the same person. Then they'll both know what kind they are.

Okay, so if we don't go with Kimblee's idea and choose Ling, then what are we going to do? We have to target someone. I don't like the idea of targeting an innocent person... but what other choice do we have? If Kimblee is the Seer and he can pick people out, that'll make things easier for us.

Does anyone else have any ideas though? Maybe we're overlooking something.

What have we actually proven today, monsieurs et mesdames, other than the facts that we have no idea what we're doing and we really shouldn't care about anything that leaves Kimblee-san's mouth until at least tomorrow?!

[May the Lady be a fence around us all. He takes a moment to breathe, to mutter some things vaguely under his breath before he starts over.]

We need to abstain. We don't have a concrete direction, and if we vote now we risk immolating an innocent person. Leaving things be tonight means another of our number will slip away from us without any true argument, but it's better that we give one to sleep and nightmares than risk losing one of our own to the pyre.

So I'm voting to abstain. If the majority aren't with me, then I just pray you aren't horrifically wrong.

Tonight, we'll lose another temporarily, but they won't be lost forever. Have faith in Our Lady. She'll save them once we free our village of the demons.

Ms. Lady, would you be willing to give response to some of the people using you in their defense?

Mr. Oswin and Mr. Bulat claim that it is impossible for them to be demons based on your word about the nature of demon possession. Are they interpreting your word correctly?

And during my interview of Mr. Kimblee, he claimed that if he's lying about being a seer, that you would intervene. Would you do that?
