Day 01 Trial

[Afternoon is here, and the time has come. We must gather at the temple to enact our solemn duty. There are tears in the Shimmering Lady's eyes as she addresses the group.]

This is something we must do together. Please discuss among yourselves who you believe to be a Demon. Each villager has one vote, and when the trial is over, I'd like you all to close your eyes and concentrate on your choice. If you are not certain, then you may select "no one." But if someone is chosen...

We need to abstain. We don't have a concrete direction, and if we vote now we risk immolating an innocent person. Leaving things be tonight means another of our number will slip away from us without any true argument, but it's better that we give one to sleep and nightmares than risk losing one of our own to the pyre.

So I'm voting to abstain. If the majority aren't with me, then I just pray you aren't horrifically wrong.

Assume for a moment that the Maddened strikes a pair of soulmates that are on our side, that will leave us at thirty. The demons striking down another pair will leave us at twenty-eight. If everyone they strike down is on our side...

If the demons are all soulmates, having 'the power of seven' means there are fourteen of them.

So in the worst-case scenario, we could be overpowered as early as tonight.

...This doesn't change the fact that we have no direction, and the chances are still too high that we'll hit one of our own - and if we hit a pair of soulmates that are on our side, we'll be in a far worse position than we were, even if the demons aren't all bonded like that.
