Day 01 Trial

[Afternoon is here, and the time has come. We must gather at the temple to enact our solemn duty. There are tears in the Shimmering Lady's eyes as she addresses the group.]

This is something we must do together. Please discuss among yourselves who you believe to be a Demon. Each villager has one vote, and when the trial is over, I'd like you all to close your eyes and concentrate on your choice. If you are not certain, then you may select "no one." But if someone is chosen...

Nurse, actually. Anyway, it's a tough one, for sure. Believe me, I don't like the idea of condemning an innocent man. And it's true that if we all abstain, the number of possible innocent people that we could lose is one less. But if we don't vote, we won't know anything tomorrow that we didn't know today--we'll be in just the same position tomorrow night, and then what? How long do we put off taking action--until we're sure we're not mistaken? What if we're never sure?

It's a mess, is what I'm saying.

It is. But maybe the Lady will aid us in seeing more clearly given time.

A hasty decision in this case means... It's selfish but I'm not sure I can do that if I'm not sure.

Well, you could say abstaining is selfish, or you could say voting is callous. There's no good answer here. But I understand not wanting that on your conscience.
