Hello hello, it's your friendly neighborhood murder fanatic, [plurk.com profile] misailury looking to run another Warmwood! This game will NOT be mafia-based, but will retain the brainwashing and giant-evil-bug-mating-dance aspects of the first.

My setup is a little bit experimental, so I'll just put up what I have so far so I can get a feel of who all is interested and how I will need to balance my numbers. Feel free to hit me up with any questions or concerns. Start date will be sometime in mid-late July or early August. If you have a strong opinion on the start date please let me know.

THE BASICS:

💣 This is a murder game intended to last no more than 1-2 months
💣 There are no roles! Instead, everyone has objectives
💣 Each character has a partner, but they act (and die) as separate units
💣 Naturally, I've included another secret brainwashing kill switch and I am embracing the possibility that it will be tripped early and this will turn into another game of Calvinball ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

THE MECHANICS:

☼ Every character has one partner, one person they must kill, and one person who is attempting to kill them. However, the partner is the only one whose identity they are aware of at the start.
☼ Partners are not announced to the game at large, so players may keep them secret if they wish
☼ In order to win the game, a character must fulfill one of two conditions:
  1. If their partner is alive, both their intended victim and their partner's intended victim must be dead

  2. If their partner has been killed, both their intended victim and the murderer of their partner must be dead

☼ The game ends when two or three teams win?? not sure on this one yet.
☼ The game will have a day and night cycle.
☼ The day phase starts on Sat and ends on Weds. During the daytime, characters can intermingle freely, explore, make private posts, all that good stuff.
☼ During the daytime, an optional objective will be given to all of the characters. The winner will not be announced, but will instead find a token in their room when they retire for the night.
☼ Every character will also receive a secret number. This is their place in the MURDER QUEUE. The MURDER QUEUE will be ICly visible at all times during the day.
☪ Night phase is Thurs. All characters are isolated with their partners during this time and can only speak to them (backthreading is fine, but ICly all non-partner threads must cut off before the night begins).
☪ Players have until the end of Thurs, PST, to put in all decisions. Decisions may be entered early (anytime in the previous week) but not late. Since you effectively have an entire week at that rate, not getting a decision in on time is cause for an idlin'.
☪ Any character whose number is not up in the MURDER QUEUE has the option to investigate any other character in the game. The investigation will return whether that person is an enemy (aka someone you want to kill OR someone who wants to kill you). It will NOT reveal whether that person is your partner's enemy.
☪ (I may also include the option to investigate their secret number rather than whether they are an enemy. not sure yet).
☪ If it is your MURDER TURN in the MURDER QUEUE you may murder anyone you please! Hooray!
☪ ...But if you don't know who you want to murder yet and aren't willing to kill some rando for no good reason, then you may pass to the next in queue. (If you have a character who will do this, please let me know asap on your turn rather than waiting for Thursday).
☪ If you have won a token from the day cycle, you may also murder anyone you please! Hooray!
☪ ...But again, if you don't wanna then you can trade that token in for protection for yourself and your partner for the night. If you do, the kill will be passed on to the next in queue.
☪ In other words, there are two deaths every night (unless they are canceled out by whoever is protected by the token)!
☺ Friday is mod buffer time. There's a lot going on here during the night cycle and it's going to take me some time to process it all.
☺ Also, Friday is when people get to play out their deaths in front of their partners. ☺ ☺ ☺

BRAINWASHING
Characters believe all of the following:

☠ They have come to Warmwood willingly
☠ Their partner is someone ~very important~ to them
☠ They want to — and are completely willing to — kill their enemy. They can believe absolutely anything that it will take to make this ICly possible.
☠ They have no need to question any of the many suspicious things about this setup

PLZ REPLY HERE IF INTERESTED also maybe talk about who you'd like to play

[ SO IS EVERYONE HYPE TO GET AWAY FROM HORRIBLE BUG THINGS??? Because that is what is happening at the end of all this. The portal leads back to an island in the middle of the bay, but from there it's a quick helicopter ride (thanks Fred) back to San Fransokyo proper.

Bad news: Jerry-rigging the portal was supposed to be temporary, so actually getting everyone back to THEIR worlds is gonna take time.

Good news: The Hamadas have an insanely rich (and nerdy) friend with a mansion who is hype for having all these weirdos stay until the Hamadas can get the portal calibrated properly.

More good news: San Fransokyo is pretty awesome and Aunt Cass is surprisingly game about a crowd of people showing up in the middle of the night. There's wings with sauce hot enough to melt your face and also ramen.

Ghost news???: So ... what happened to those dead people anyway?

Whatever, let's have a party. There's plenty of food and a warm restaurant and an adorable aunt who is very happy to see both her nephews and all their weird new friends. ]

(( ENDGAME PARTY POST let's goof off and has threads to unwind after the big battle. ))

[The wall has been breached. So have the illusions. The dreamers are awakening. People's powers are returning. A Gyarados bit off some of her legs. Her suitor is dead. All-in-all, this has not been a very good day for Our Shimmering Lady, She of Unerring Purpose. She's not taking it well, either. She coils up on her concrete temple, hiding all her fleshy bits under a chitinous shell, and roars.

You should never piss off a Lady.]

((Boss battle post! I am out for most of the day, but will pick up as I can.))

[ And just when you thought any more crazy shit couldn't happen -

A noise kind of like thunder rolls outward from one side of the village. Cracks begin to appear high up on the southernmost wall, beginning as a star-shaped point and rapidly expanding, fractaling out to make a weak spot roughly ten feet in diameter. Then chunks begin to fall out of it. The first hits the ground with a resounding crash that would have been plenty loud even if you hadn't heard that first rumble. More blast out in a wide arc that sends rocks into houses and trees (but hopefully not into any people).

Beyond the wall ... there's a whole lot of bright blue light streaming through. A circle of metal and circuitry being held in place by a seething mass of teeny tiny little robots. And the silhouettes of two familiar kids. ]

[The Shimmering Lady rears up on her hind legs, screeching angrily.]

What are you doing? This isn't how we play. If you don't take this seriously, then I'll finish this game RIGHT. NOW.

[Meanwhile, a large plume of smoke and another giant bug monster is crawling out of the barn...]

((LET THE LAST ROUND OF CALVINBALL BEGIN.
Everyone from the Graveyard post is suddenly visible and audible, though still essentially intangible))

Trial 04

[It's time for another trial! Gather 'round the temple and... huh. That's weird. Does the Lady seem a little agitated to you today? Before you can even fully assemble, she makes an announcement:]

Jotaro Kujo, a Demon, has gone to the barn instead of coming to this trial. Isn't that strange? It's almost like some kind of horrible ravenous thing lives in there and is luring in victims. Gosh.

We may mourn him afterward. For now, let us proceed. I wish the best of luck to you in this difficult task, as always.

((Vote!))

Day 04

[Good morning! For some of you, anyway. Probably. Here come the Shimmering Lady's announcements:]

The Hamadas, who were Soulmates and Demons, have disappeared from the village, and the three sleeping demons were fatally strangled at some point during the night.

The responsibility for these events lies solely on the Night Watch's shoulders. I don't like to be so harsh, but Night Watch is a very serious duty and one with no room for negligence. Therefore, as punishment for last night's irresponsibility, Ling Yao, an ordinary villager, has been sent to the barn.

In addition, Simon Blackquill, a Sinner, has been lost to dreams.

[Once more, you are called together for a trial. All must be present - even Kimblee, unfortunately, as Our Lady does not wish him to be left unguarded.]

Hello again, my Faithful. Today we have two important matters to disucss:

The first is that of our regular trial. We must not allow the demons to distract us from what is most important. I also feel that in general we have been a bit... mm... conflicted? Distracted? I understand how difficult this is, but we must be decisive with our judgment. Therefore, those who do not present a clear vote by the end of the trial will have their vote counted as being for themselves. All of you find this ruling to be fair and just.

The other matter is that of the demon within Kimblee and those like him. Once again, I am sensing hesitation. I cannot say I understand why. I have told you all demons are liars, have I not? I have told you that their hosts cannot be taken back from them, have I not? And yet you would let this useless compassion sway you?

Perhaps you are worried about the innocents who may lose their life in these votes. Tragic though it is, everyone makes mistakes. And yet inaction can only lead to all of us losing our lives. Do you truly think the demons wish to wake you up when all this is over? You shouldn't.

However, I cannot force anything on you, and shall admit that there are other possibilities. Let us discuss them here today.

((Ordinary trial vote
Special "what do we do about demons" vote

Let's try to get this done by the usual time tomorrow! However if everyone is undecided and/or the discussion is still raging at that point, I will extend.

OK! We're going to extend to 11:35am my time (that's 9:35pm EST) so if you haven't voted on both polls, PLEASE DO THAT))
